White House Tells It Like It Is, Omits News From Fox Reporters Place Cards (VIDEO)

The White House State Of The Union luncheon is an annual tradition. Each year dignitaries and news personalities are invited to join the President in a pre-speech feast.

This years luncheon had a bit of a twist of humor and reality for Fox News reporter propagandist Shepard Smith. According to Smith, he noticed something a little strange about the place cards on the tables:

I sat next to Brian Williams, we all have these place cards, and his said Brian Williams NBC News. Across from me was the new guy, David Muir, it said David Muir ABC News. Over next to the President was Scott Pelley and it said Scott Pelley ABC News. I looked at mine, and it doesnt say anything about news, it just says Fox. And I looked at Bret Baiers and it just said Bret Baier Fox. But all the rest of them got News.

I mean I dont care, lunch was great. But, uh, I guess theres a message received. But…I think Bret and I are good to go with the news part, and I think you know that, too.

He ends with a peace sign.

Yes, Shep, we know youre good to go with the news part. We know you dont care if it was omitted, because we know that you know that we know that what you offer is nothing that even resembles news.

Apparently the White House staff are on to you as well. Go figure.

Thank you, President Obama and your staff for giving us a little something to smile about before we have to listen to the rhetoric the right is sure to begin spewing shortly after the State Of The Union Address.

Well played.

You have to suffer through a few minutes of Shep reporting on the menu before he talks about the place cards in the video, or you can bypass it and fast forward to 5:15.

Trump Spokeswoman Defends Muslim Ban: So What? Theyre Muslims

  • rayb_baby

A little rough on Shep there! Hes the only halfway honest human on Faux Noise.

    • paco

I dont think anyone is being to rough on this guy…he CHOSES to work for FOX and engages in the misinformation they report. If he is a halfway honest human, his conscience should compel him to leave the network. He is in collusion with the network and that speaks volumes about his ethics.

      • Clarence LeBlanc

Im sure if someone offered remotely the same dough to work for an actual news channel he would take it.

        • rayb_baby

I dont know about sure, but I would like to think so.

        • paco

…and now we are back to his ethics.

          • rayb_baby

Then why dont YOU discuss his ethics? I think hes the only Faux Noise host that has some. How about your ethics, or do you just want to totally bash him?

          • paco

Look…I dont get off on bashing people unless it is warranted. You keep calling it Faux Noise, so why do you support this guy? Any NORMAL person who feels FOX is Faux Noise should be incensed that anyone associate with a News organization that disseminates inaccurate news needs to hold ALL involved accountable for compromised ethics. As for me…my ethics are just fine or I wouldnt be commenting on how bad theirs are. Also, take a look around this page…ur opinions are tragically in the minority. As for your attitude towards me…who is bashing who?

          • rayb_baby

So, I suppose you put Juan Williams and Alan Colmes in the same lack of ethics boat as other Faux Noise commentators. They get checks from Faux, too.
It seems like you have NO balance to your perspective; Black or white, up or down, good or bad! I start my assessments from the middle and work my way out from there.
In general, I despise Faux as much as you, but I also know that not EVERYTHING they tell is a lie and not everyone on there is the same.
Also, the fact that I have, as of this comment, 40 to your 54 ups on a blog site like this, means that Im not TRAGICALLY in the minority with my opinion

          • paco

            try adding 54 to 43…

          • rayb_baby

On a left leaning website like this, a tragic minority would have been more like 54 to 3, or dont you get that?

          • paco

im happy with my 115 to your 51…dont address me again…

          • Kelly Roberts

Except that multiple studies/surveys have been done on Fox viewers and the results are eerily similar. That being that Fox viewers are LESS informed than people who watch ZERO television/cable news! Tragic!! Gone are the days of Edward Murrow and Walter Cronkite! Fox is the Kim Kardashian of information and honest, hard-hitting journalism. All Fox journalists are, at best, a mere mouthpiece for the RNC and, at worst, heinous propagandists of which Hitler would blush!

          • rayb_baby

ALL is not the same as THE VAST MAJORITY! Did you even read my comment, or are you another that ONLY sees black and white?
OTHERWISE, what you say is correct,

        • AF Sarge

What a shame we will never know. None of the other channels are smart enough to hire him. He might go to the BBC or one of the other English speaking channels. I have always wondered if Fox News is right wing propaganda why is it number 1. We have more liberals or Mr. Obama wouldnt be President so why isnt CNN or NBC or ABC or my favorite MSLSD sorry MSNBC number 1, none are even a close second.Could it be that Fox is actually fair and balanced. I dont want to hear about Megyn Kelly or Bill OReilly they are commentators not news reporters any more Keith Olbermann or Al Sharpton. There was a time when CNN was all news. MSNBC doesnt even pretend to deliver news they are truly the Radical Lefts Voice. I listen to CNN, CBS, ABC, and Fox News so I have to believe I am not brainwashed. You can disagree but I doubt you will be fair and balanced.

          • paco

Try listening to NPR…btw, people are on here relaying their opinions just like everyone else and just because those opinions differ from urs doesnt mean that we are not fair and balanced people. So…ALL the other media outlets on TV are just stupid and part of a vast conspiracy of liberalism. Thats insane. However, I do find YOUR remarks rather typical of someone who obviously leans to the right…which is absolutely ur prerogative….and ur correct…I dont agree with you. And about FOX being #1…chew on this. This country is pretty evenly split between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives have ONE news channel that caters to those of you with conservative beliefs, why arent there more? So is it any wonder FOX is #1 when you consider that. Perhaps If we added up all the other news stations who do believe in the ethics of journalism, the numbers would be drastically different. Meanwhile, the real news is being broadcast on a variety of other stations. Why do you think that is? You may not be brainwashed but your comments lead me to believe u are easily manipulated by something that looks like news…but isnt.

          • AF Sarge

National Public Radio where you get the news and a free tote bag with a donation of 25 dollars. Have listened in the past and some of their programs are interesting I wouldnt call it news. As to there being a vast conspiracy of liberalism, I have watched the news for 50 years and watched it go from delivering fact to what is now a twisting of the narrative so that depending on the story they want to tell is what you will hear. So from where I sit listening and watching the Main stream media and Fox news I think both these men are news men in the sense that any other person at that table are news people. I think real news men wouldnt have a job today men like Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley or David Brinkley. They were news reporters not talking heads. I watch several stations and filter out the truth as I see it.

          • paco

These are several points in this post I absolutely agree with (actually, I agree with the entirety). I think MOST of our media outlets have been letting the American public down for years…but most especially FOX (when Im finished with this post, just for shits and giggles, Im going to Google and search on Youtube for ANY retractions FOX has had to make). I have been watching the new for 40 years and have also witnessed the transition it has made to opinion TV. I mentioned NPR because I feel like they at least try to do a decent job at getting it right, even though they do discuss more than current events. I should have included PBS as well for also trying to be impartial. Like you say in the final sentence of ur post, I too find my self trying to discern the truth. But even though we do that, should WE have to? There just seems to be no integrity any more. Thats not OUR job. I also remember the days of Cronkite, Brinkley, and the rest from the era where the concern was to be as accurate as possible…not to change the whole show into an op-ed. This is where all my statements here are actually about. News should be impartial and Im happy to agree with you on that. I recall the movie BROADCAST NEWS with Holly Hunter and William Hurt and more recently, NEWSROOM, and how important it was for Hunters and Jeff Daniels characters to strive for the truth. Sure those were/are for entertainment but the message I took away from them was just that…striving for authenticity, and more importantly, the truth. As news reporting is so fluid these days with 24/7 news available…accuracy is so much more important than ever. I am pleased to see that you are aware of this and my rush to judgement, while well intentioned, was premature so I do apologize for that.

          • AF Sarge

So did you find many Fox News retractions I found about 7 pages, I also found 7 pages for CNN and ABC. Of them all NPR only had 5 pages. So all news make mistakes. Fox News must have the White House attention as a News organization or they wouldnt have to spy on Fox reporters. Another group of reporters that I miss are people like Woodward and Bernstein now all we have are made up scandals the White House tells us everything we need to know sooner or later. So Ill keep my Fox News and sift through the rest.

          • paco

I did…and it would be pretty funny stuff if it werent such a serious issue. Its probably a good idea that you do keep FOX on ur radar…someone needs to keep their eye on them…but Im not going to anymore. I flip around channels and try to pay attention to as much as I can but there are so many media outlets now, its impossible to thoroughly know what is being reported. Besides, I have watched them all enuff to pretty much know what their agendas are. However, some of these organizations have reported things so poorly that I have struck them from my news sources entirely (like CNN, FOX, & MSNBC….I dont want to hear their opinions reported to me anymore). I agreed with you about the rest of the networks already…they really have lost their way or are just following Rupert Murdochs instructions as it seems his intent is to OWN all the news…lol. But seriously, they are ALL really letting us down. I wouldnt be surprised if the White House was spying on all of them…not just FOX. BTW…watch the end credits after a local news broadcast and look to see if it has any association with the Sinclair Broadcast Group. This organization has been very busy buying up local news programming. If you are not already aware of them…you should be. They and other broadcasting groups like them are manipulating things at the local level which is the most disturbing to me…and few are aware of this. Just for shits and giggles, google them.

          • Bruce Call

Paco instead of looking for retractions look and see how many stories the left has ignored , refused to publish omission of facts or ghe entire story is as good as a lielie. But wait if you only listen to the story that your left caters to you you dont even know whats missing! You live in a world of denial , your head burried in the sand and prefer to live not knowingknowing, then to admit or realize your wrong! ? In the midterms did the conservative party grow or did people voters vote out they repulsive lawless admin?

          • Bruce Call

            Well said!

          • Bruce Call

The fact obama is pres doesnt mean there are more libs! It means that people on both sides are looking for change! Many republican conservatives voted for him. This blog is a liberal blog and does not represent the majority by far! No more then going to a far right blog does. If all you listen to is one perspective you are missing the information to make an informed opinion wouldnt you say?

        • poster1a

Hes working for the only actual news channel.

      • Beaugrand_RTMC

        chooses, or chose.

        Not choses.

        • paco

Im not here for spelling lessons…

      • Bruce Call

Hey Paco present facts as you speak as you have them ! ABC NBC CBS MSNBC all far left media (yes media not news or journalism) are biased. By simply ommiting a story or spinning and interjecting opinion with instead of fact the lead the listener to the agenda ! Listening to biased news at best gives one half the story and by default less if the listener distrust the opinion of the propagandists ! So your butt hurt opinionated sorry ass is ignorant because of your refusal to gather the information to draw your own educated conclusions! Seems to me another liberal calling the kettle black! In there arrogant ignorance forgot to gather the facts. I hope I misspelled something so you have a defence! Lol

    • walthe310

      I agree

  • Darren Stevens

Scott Pelley is the face of the CBS news organization, not ABC. THATs why he didnt get news after Foxbecause he isnt.

    • Pennsylvanianne

Shep cant get Pelleys affiliation right, but the White House got Foxs name absolutely correct, which is more than Fox talking heads can get about anything.

  • paco

Shepard…u are a bit delusional if you think FOX presents the news. It is widely know by most intellects that what you call news is nothing more than a right wing outlet for disinformation. Snap out of it…you know this is true and your support of this outrageous hi-jacking of the real news should fill you with shame. You are entitled to your own opinion…but not to your own facts. You and your contemporaries at FOX are a disgrace to journalism.

    • GOLDSPIRAL

Substitute your rant with MSNBC AND I agree

      • paco

i dont watch MSNBS so I have nothing to offer on that.

      • Olga Kim

Dont act like you know stuff. You dont watch MSNBC. Maybe youve watched it for 3 minutes at one point. Your little comment proves it.

        • scooter

What are the ratings over at MSN? Your pissy little attitude tells me its pretty dismal.

          • Spawn_of_Santa

What the fak do RATINGS have to do with ACCURACY????

    • scooter

      Jealousy looks good on you.

      • paco

i dont see this as a matter to have jealousy about. Neither one of us won any contest. I just dont agree with you. It is funny that the the way right minded people debate is with hostility rather than being thoughtful, cool and collected. I realize it is tempting to strike out when someone has taken ur rattle away from you but try a little dignity instead.

    • paco

i was commenting on one story and in true fashion, others have broadened it to serve their own agenda…I wrote this recently and think it says how I feel about the entirety of the media. A while back I made my Facebook page a political free zone…although it hasnt stopped me from chiming in on other peoples statements. But today I am going to weigh in on this Brian Williams exaggerated report from 2003. Its now 12 years later and suddenly it becomes a controversy. That in itself is a major failure of accuracy and shame on him. However, I have been saying for years we have a pretty big problem with our media where it has become more about ratings than getting the story right, None of us were on that helicopter with Brian Williams but I can see him being pressured to make a story more juicy because he has to compete with media outlets like FOX to keep his job…was it ethical for Williams to perpetuate this story that the helicopter he was in was hit by enemy fire…no! But which is worse? There is an entire and LONE network politically slanting their reporting constantly…24/7. The news is to be impartial to any outside entity. FOX and Rupert Murdochs media EMPIRE give the conservative right exactly what they WANT to hear and have capitalized on it. If your response is WELL…they are the #1 news station on TV. you are not recognizing that the reason they are is because they are only one reporting what the RIGHT wants to hear. The actuality is our country is pretty evenly split politically, as our elections tell us at this point in history. FOX is competing with SEVERAL other media outlets who are still trying to cling to the way Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite broadcast the news…they knew what impartiality was. There was a day when the news wasnt even interrupted with commercials…think about that. So what did we expect to happen…we end up with MSNBC who tells the Left exactly what THEY want to hear and now we have a media system in an intellectual war. Im sick to death of our PUBLICS only true, but unofficial, branch of government (the one that is supposed to belong to us) from becoming capitalist organizations…we need to be able to trust our news again and today I dont. I dont watch news on TV anymore, where I am pretty much seen as a consumer…do you all want to be consumers or do you want to be told the truth. And watch out for your local news broadcasts as well…especially since corporations like the Sinclair Media Group, which all of you should google today to see what they have been up to, have been very busy buying up your local broadcasting organizations. This is NOT how it is supposed to be when our nightly news anchors sign contracts worth MILLIONS of dollars and are made to to feel obligated to compromise their principles. Just as they say Dont believe everything you read…. Dont believe everything you hear, either.

  • Justin Brown

HA!Too good..Tell themwhen you actually report news you can have the news back on your place card, then whack them in the nose with a rolled up NEWSpaper!

    • http://www.facebook.com//ladysavanteajreign Savante Artemis-Adonis Robello

      LOL TOO TRUE Justin Brown

  • lauralth

To be fair, sometimes Shep does get it right on there.

    • rayb_baby

Even Megan Kelly gets it right ……… once in a while. Of course, then theres KKKlannity, whose vile, lying rants outweigh anything positive you MIGHT hear on Faux Noise.

      • paco

Megan Kelly still believes in Santa Clause…and shes sure hes white.

  • joe ebbitt

Nice touch, the omission speaks volumes.

    • http://www.facebook.com//ladysavanteajreign Savante Artemis-Adonis Robello

VOLUMES MORE WORTHY Sentiments of REAL TRUTH, REAL NEWS & REAL INTELLIGENCE. thats for damn sure Joe Ebbitt

  • KCP

I guess they should consider themselves lucky that the cards did not say Fox Snooze.

  • Doc Bruce

    Truth in place cards.

  • Cpt_Justice

Yeah, it doesnt say anything about news because NEITHER DO YOU guys (for the most part).

  • Ron Rankin

should have said fox the republican channel

  • onowhere

I cant figure out why Fox was invited in the first place. Its an entertainment network. News?? Bwahhahahahahahahah!

  • Tony Thompson

Oh, poor FOX News. The only people who take them seriously are the anti-reality crowd. Which, sadly, still has far too many members.

  • GOLDSPIRAL

This White House is the most PETTY WH of all time.

    • paco

hmmm…and changing the name of french fries to freedom fries isnt petty?

      • maron

        Its patriotic.

        • paco

          its petty…wasnt that the topic?

          • maron

I wasnt the first to name call in case you didnt figure out what replacing the a in my name with an o meant. Im not sure why someone needs to resort to that, but Im happy to give it back to rayb baby. Im not at all angry; but I dont understand why people have to be so nasty.

          • rayb_baby

white house twerps That was you name calling.

          • paco

neither do I. I was a political science major and these people, who I have a hard time believing even attended college, want to argue with me…I dont like debating people who are basically unarmed.

        • rayb_baby

I think you misspelled your tag name. Shouldnt that a be an o?

          • maron

I havent tried to insult anyone here, butt if youre going to be an asshole, Id be happy to call you one.

          • paco

dont bother…anyone who resorts to name calling KNOWS they have lost the debate.

          • paco

u know what…ur an angry person looking for something to argue about at this point. u should have quit about 6 posts ago and Im not going to entertain your opinions any more. Try to have a nice life.

  • GOLDSPIRAL

What a small small and petty minded WH this admin displays..all the time.

  • Dennis Walker

As their reportage is not news, it seems odd that they would be invited to lunch with news people and the President.

  • maron

Jealous of the audience Fox NEWS has and its ratings? Dont we have enough soft liberal reporters kissing Obamas ass instead of ferreting out true news and scandals? Sorry you white house twerps cant grow up and report news without making fun of others.

    • karensc

You dont have anyone who actually reports news. I saw a few minutes of Fox this morning when I stopped at a fast food restaurant to grab some coffee. In two minutes I saw them tell two lies. Hows that for ya?

      • maron

The truth is usually somewhere in between the liberal slant and the conservative slant. Listen to both, try to be unbiased, go to the middle, and thats probably the truth. You dont think they lie on MSNBC or CNN?

        • Dalek

CNN may not be unbiased, but Fox just makes stuff up. Theyre not simply biased, they lie.

          • maron

Doubt thats necessarily the case, but whatever. Believe what you want to believe. Omission of significant stories is just as bad as slanting them. I doubt any news media make things up.

  • lisaherzog

I thought Scott Pelley was from CBS News.

    • paco

      He is

  • MJRinPA

Not made up news, but made up stories masquerading as news.

  • MJRinPA

No it is no the same damn news. I dont know of any station other than Fox who claimed that France had no go zones.

  • paco

i dont watch MSNBC so for me to comment on that particular network would kind of be the same as FOX reporting techniques…lol. But I get ur point.

  • paco

You make assumptions in your statement you couldnt possibly know…and u talk about FAIR? Find your own Fox failures like I have…there are plenty to see on Youtube or u can Google them (Also, personalities like John Stewart take a great deal of glee in pointing them out no matter which side of the aisle the incorrect story comes from). You expect everyone else to do ur research for u? In any case, reporting the news is supposed to be an unbiased affair. If you enjoy watching your opinion TV program…by all means, continue to do so. However, I dont want my news commentary leaning in ANY direction. I want the FACTS presented to me and THEN I will entertain a networks decision to use political analysts as a follow up to the story or for a debate on the issue…as long as they present BOTH sides. What I wont tolerate is an entire network having a biased slant on everything. Ive said this b4, that is opinion TV…not journalism with integrity. FOX has been caught doing this over and over again. Because FOX has decided to affiliate politically with the right, it has caused a capitulation so networks, like MSNBC, have decided to report from the left. Now many networks just serve up the news to order like asking for scrambled eggs instead of just eggs in general. They are not impartial. BTW, calling everyone making reasonable comments a group of tards shows a certain amount of intellectual shallowness on ur part.

  • scooter

The Obama administration doesnt like when someone doesnt follow their lead. Fox having the ability to flip the bird at the asshats that want to control the outlet really pisses them off, but thats what happens when you have the people behind you as shown by their ratings.

  • MOOSE4U2

paco The ratings speak for themselves .Fox is telling the truth others are covering it up .

  • cravin moorehead

Fox doesnt have a lock on the use of the term, Fair and Balanced. Karma is a bitch, bitch.

  • indoboy7

KUDOS to the WHite House for showing enough restraint & Class by NOT printing FOX LIES & DISTORTIONS…..or FOX FANTASIEs……………..
